Learning Math through Prodigy

Reflection:

All our peers understood and were capable of learning how to play prodigy and also how to set it up for their own students. This app will be successful in our future teaching practices, as it gives students a fun and novel way of learning mathematics. Often times, students become interested in mathematics at a young age, but peers were eager and showed excitement learning about this website. In the future, if I was to teach this lesson again, I would give more time for peers or students to explore the website and become more proficient at using it. Peers were given a task to answer questions regarding online safety. This is essential while introducing online games to children, as it can become dangerous very quick if they aren't aware of the dangers. Peers were then asked to create their own characters to get them more involved in this process and excited to play Prodigy.

Lessons Learned:

Mathematics can be fun for our students. To work on and learn mathematics, students don't need to be given worksheets. We can find fun, new ways for students to learn through different resources. These resources can even be free and available to all.

How I Will Use Prodigy in the Future:

I see myself using this website as a tool for my students. It will help those who are struggling in mathematics, gain confidence and become stronger with their abilities. They will be excited to learn mathematics through this website and often forget that they are doing homework.

  1. Meritchell, your post looks amazing! both of your links work. I love that you added a link to the Prodigy website. I love that even though we worked on this lesson together, we both learned different lessons, and applied it differently to our future.
